American themed opening event in Höfn

On 2-4 July 2008, the Embassy’s Regional Security Officer Jon Moody and the Assistant to the Defense Attache Commander Patrick Geraghty traveled to Höfn to attend the kickoff event of the annual Humarhátíð (Lobster Festival) hosted by the Kvennakór Hornafjarðar Ladies Choir.  In addition to meeting local officials, Moody and Geraghty were treated to a nature tour, a photography and art exhibit with Hlynur Pálmason and a tour of the radar facility at Stokksnes.  The highlight of the visit was the American themed opening event of the Lobster Festival.  The night was filled with great food, sing-a-longs to American classics and delightful musical numbers performed by the very talented choir.  It was a wonderful reminder of the close ties between our two countries and the perfect prelude to Independence Day.
